Maio

Maio is flat like Sal and Boa Vista, has some splendid deseteted white sandy beaches and the largest area of forest in the archipelago.  It is accessible by a 10 minute flight from Santiago.

You won't be struggle ling here to find a perfect white sandy beach with complete isolation.  Perfect for sun lovers.  These are the beaches which are chosen by sea turtles for laying their eggs. 

The capital is 'Vila do Maio',  It is a small town with a traditional central church.

It is worth hiring a jeep to explore this white sanded island and to discover it’s many dunes and beaches. The islanders show friendliness to visitors.  Many beaches are hidden from the main roads but can be accessed with a 4x4
